Alexander T. Phan, MD is a Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellow at Loma Linda University Health and a board-certified Internal Medicine physician. He completed his residency and served as Chief Resident at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, where he led quality improvement initiatives and contributed to clinical protocol development. Dr. Phan earned his Doctor of Medicine with summa cum laude honors from St. George’s University, where he was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society and received the Morris Alpert Academic Scholarship. He also holds a Master of Science in Physiology and Biophysics from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Johns Hopkins University, where he was a Bloomberg Scholar.
A prolific researcher, Dr. Phan has authored over 40 peer-reviewed publications and presented at national conferences including the American Thoracic Society and the American College of Physicians. His research interests include pulmonary infections, pleural disease, and critical care medicine. He serves on the editorial board of Scientific Reports (Nature) and is a peer reviewer for multiple medical journals. Beyond clinical and academic work, Dr. Phan is co-founder of White Coat Tutors LLC and Barbell Rx LLC, initiatives focused on medical education and health literacy. Outside of the hospital, he likes to participate in triathlons, powerlift, and speedcube.
