Dr. Charles B. Ross is a vascular/endovascular surgeon who practices at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. He is board certified in vascular surgery. Dr. Ross co-founded the pulmonary embolism program with his colleagues at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital in late 2012 which then transitioned to the PAH PERT in 2014. He has continuously participated with colleagues in metro Atlanta and North Georgia to expand education and awareness of modern care for pulmonary embolism. Dr. Ross served on the Board of Directors of the PERT Consortium 2016 – 2019. Dr. Ross has served on multiple committees of the PERT Consortium including clinical protocols, education and finance, and he has held a principal role in the PERT Consortium’s Interhospital Transfer Project. Prior to his recruitment in 2012 to his present position in Atlanta, Dr. Ross was Chief of the Division of Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapeutics at the University of Louisville. Dr. Ross initiated the Level I Cardiovascular Emergency Program at Piedmont Hospital in 2014 and served as Chief of Vascular and Endovascular Services, Piedmont Heart and Vascular Institute through 2022. Dr. Ross has been an active trialist in pulmonary embolism intervention as well as iliac vein stenting. He has been panelist and/or program developer for multiple postgraduate programs on the management of pulmonary embolism. He is a member of numerous professional societies including the American Venous Forum and is a Distinguished Fellow of the Society for Vascular Surgery. Dr. Ross is co-editor with Drs. Charles Grodzin, Geno Merli, and Rachel Rosovsky of the evolving book, "PERT Consortium Handbook of Pulmonary Embolism: Research, Care and Management" in published by Springer.
