I am W. Cameron McGuire MD, MPH, an assistant professor of pulmonary and critical care medicine at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. In the pulmonary embolism (PE) space, I am interested in persistence of symptoms after acute PE and defining the impaired physiology that underpins these symptoms. To define these sypmtoms, I use cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) as an initial test and sometimes using invasive CPET with right heart catheterization to aid in the workup of these symptoms. Beyond my interests in cardiopulmonary physiology in post-PE patients, I am also interested in medical education, clinical research, and pulmonary vascular medicine.
