Frances Mae West, MD

Dr. Frances Mae West is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. She is the Program Director for the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship and the founding Director of the Internal Medicine Point-of-Care Ultrasound Fellowship.

She obtained her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College, followed by Internal Medicine internship, residency and Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine fellowship at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital – Weill Cornell Medical Center. She is triple board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care Medicine. She is a Testamur of the National Board of Echocardiography’s Special Competence in Critical Care Echocardiography, and is currently on track for board certification.

Dr. West is a founding member and co-Director of Jefferson’s Pulmonary Embolism Response Team (JeffPERT). She is a member of the National PERT Consortium, serves on the Communications Committee, and co-Chairs the PERT Trainee Council. She is a Course Advisor for PERT Bootcamp, a hands-on Physician in Training Course that runs prior to the PERT Consortium Annual Meeting. She is a fellow of the American College of Physicians, and holds active memberships in the American Thoracic Society, American College of Chest Physicians, American Society of Echocardiography, and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine.
